Southern California Horse & Rider Shoot
A couple of weeks ago I took the opportunity to fly out to California to spend some time with my BFF Maggie. And during the stay we made our way out to where her Andalusian, Quarter Horse Cross Fierra is boarded to finally take a few photos of her and her own horse! Here are the photos from our time together:
As some of you who have been following me for a while already know, when I was in high school I fell from one of my horses and lost my memory. It only seems to affect my long term memory now. But that is how I initially got started into photography. I feel the NEED to take photos for fear I will one day not remember these precious moments in life. BUT do you know how I became a wedding coordinator?
Well, let me tell you! After college I worked at a resort for 5 long years. Learning a lot about business, being a manager and seeing TONS of weddings! All along just taking photos for friends on the side. During that time I became friends with the wedding coordinators who worked at the resort. Happy to help when I could lend a hand. So when Becky left the resort and started her own wedding and event company Something Blue Wedding & Events. She asked if I would be interested in being one of her "day of" assistants, I was happy to help! Fast forward few years later and I find myself not only assisting her (AND HAYLEY!) on weddings still but taking on my own "Day of Coordinating" jobs for her! It turns out these two different jobs go very well together! As a Coordinator I focus on making sure the bride & groom's day goes as smoothly as possible and doing any trouble shooting that may come up so they can enjoy the day. Aaaand if I find time, I like to take a few detail shots and maybe a quick picture of the happy couple (I always ask the hired photographer if it is ok first). But then when I am the Photographer for the wedding I find myself in my pre-wedding consultation slipping into my coordinator mind. Trying to make sure they have their vendors arriving on time, enough power for their lighting and band... I'm more of a 2 for 1 deal these days, lol! Basically I LOVE both of my jobs! (outside of being a mom) There is something very gratifying about helping a couple relax and enjoy one of the most important days of their life and helping them document it as well.

Dana & Tanner's Super Fun Engagement Shoot at Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy & Walworth Co. Fair
These two... I couldn't even handle the cuteness with them! They are so completely in love with one another that I was smiling and laughing right along with them during the whole shoot!
Then we headed to the Walworth Co. Fair!
It always feels good to be able to give back! So when I was asked about helping the Fontana Grade School PTSO with their annual Family Photo Fundraiser, I was excited about the idea! Just one problem... They typically held it during the busiest wedding month! But we were able to make it work and had a great turnout! It was two separate days of mini sessions and we lucked out on the first day with GREAT weather.... On the second we may have been dodging under trees to get out of the rain but everyone was a team player and the photos turned out beautifully! Here are a few favorites:
Avery's Beach Birthday Party!
My baby girl is 5 years old! The years seem to be going by faster and faster. I wish my kiddos could stay these ages forever. So sweet and loving.
Last year for Avery's Birthday we decided not to have a big party and instead go to Medieval Times with just family and a couple of friends. It was a lot of fun but the next day Avery said to me that next year (meaning this year) she wanted to have a rainbow Beach Birthday Party! I asked her a couple of times through out the year... She had the same request each time! So in the middle of my busiest wedding month I put together a Rainbow Beach Party! And as luck would have it... in the middle of August it was only 75 degrees, overcast and there was rain in the forecast. But it wasn't supposed to come until later in the day. So we HAD to try! YES, we did get rained on but it didn't last too long and we continued on with the party! I couldn't have done it without the help of my friends and family! A BIG thank you to Carlie for helping set up and tear down, my husband who made the posts, to my family members who followed Quin around and to Julie Michelle Cakes for making the most delicious and beautiful birthday cake for my big 5 year old!
Sorry I felt the need to include a few of her 5 year old photos as well :)
I had the pleasure of meeting Jackie at the Lake Lawn Bridal show this past March. She stood out because they have set the date for the same day as my anniversary! So I was so excited when my daughter drew her name as the winner for the FREE engagement session. (like the one I am going to be giving away at the upcoming Lake Geneva Cruise Line Bridal Showcase on Sunday September 24th) So Happy they decided to accept their win and spend the evening in Lake Geneva with me! Here are some photos from our time together:
Such a fun family to be around! We lucked out with a beautiful warm summer's day up in Saukville, WI. The DeZutel Family Reunion was hosted at one of the family members home on a piece of property I could only dream of! With a beautiful log home, plenty of grass and a private pond filled with fish! Take a look for yourself!
Avery and Addie have been friends since they were 1 year old. Now they are 5 and are so close that they call each other sister! Avery (The blond) is my daughter and whenever we go somewhere she always asks if Addie can come or if she will be there too. She doesn't like when the answer is no. And because the girls like to dress a like that sparked an idea in my head for them to have their very own best friends shoot!
I have been conceptualizing this for a few months... First i asked my neighbor if we could use her mini horses (Daisy & Bella). Then I found the girls dresses (Thank you Amazon) and finally I made the girls floral crowns and horses wreaths! There is nothing more exciting than seeing all your hard work come together!
Behind the Scenes Photos!
Thank you Carlie, Sandy & Mom for helping wrangle kids & horses!
I have so many exciting shoots coming up and this was just the start of them. I have had the pleasure of photographing this family since Brad & Ella's Wedding day! Since then I have been taking their photos yearly and watching their family grow! Here are some photos from our latest session at their farm. Blue Clay Farm a pick your own Strawberry & Blueberry patch filled with charm.
Wow! It's hard to believe it has already been over a year since these two tied the knot last June! Back then I was just their day of wedding coordinator. But at their detailing meeting Claire and I bonded over our love of horses! So when I received a message from her husband this past December about him wanting to give her a Equine Shoot for her birthday I was so excited! It was so hard to keep the secret from her! But when we finally got to discuss her shoot she had a great idea to include some anniversary photos into the mix. Here is a little look at our time together!
And then it was time to play with Sweetness!
